Blow it Up!?

Anyone know why they don't blow up some sort of bunker buster charge near the pipe gushing oil and let the rubble mostly seal off things while BP is doing the month long relief drill?

Presumably because it would not work and/or because it could make things worse. Rubble doesn't produce a seal.

It may surprise some, but bombs are not the solution to every problem!

A bomb would likely only increase the exposed well head area, and thus result in greater emission of pollutant to the ocean. Blast material does not simply fly upwards, then fall back down into the hole. It flies outwards. That's why craters are formed after explosions.

Yeah, I agreed with Richard. For all type of problems bombs might not be the oneway solution rather it may cause the big issue of environmental disaster. Anyway, I appreciate your question. Thanks.
