"Primates" from across the Anglican fellowship have been meeting in Canterbury, trying to avoid a fracture over the fact that the American Episcopal Church ordains openly practicing gay individuals as priests. The leader from Uganda actually walked out Wednesday night and the leaders from Africa apparently have been leading the charge to discipline or convince the Episcopal Church to withdraw from the Anglican communion.
The final outcome was to suspend the Episcopal Church for three years to give it time to repent. I suspect that fact means in three years it will be kicked out of the communion.
Very interesting. It perhaps marks a decisive moment in the shift of the center of Christianity to the two-thirds world. Here is the report in the Episcopal News Service.
