If you had one Bible course...

... to orient pastors about how to use the Bible, what would you put in it? I don't mean Bible content. I'm talking hermeneutics and how to use it.

1. An overview of scripture through the lens of the new covenants fulfillment of the old covenant. This would give context to the story of scripture in view of God's relationship with his people.
2. To work through a frequently asked question sheet of common questions laity ask when studying scripture, while formulating answers before the questions are posed.
3. A session on placing ourselves within the story of scripture to interpret it without boiling it down to a simple principle or 3 step application.

A history of how canon was created and collected, and what meanings word of God can have for the actual documents edited, collated and collected by such a process.

Do you teach hermeneutics at the seminary? I'll bet you make it an interesting course.
