Time to cut bait. Everybody has all their talking points for the next election. Everyone knows what will fly and what won't. So here's the deal.
1. Take the proposal of the "gang of six" in the Senate, as bi-partisan as it's going to get.
2. Take out the revenue parts that won't pass the House.
3. Pass it and raise the debt ceiling.

Reminds me of this Onion article: http://www.theonion.com/articles/congress-continues-debate-over-whether-or-not-nati,20977/
;-)
Yeah, time to cut something.
I work in poverty care. ADR, counseling, law. With dozens of clergy who refer. The state-space of clergy understanding of our whorish debt ceiling accounting gimmickery is about as clear and competent as clergy knowledge of Nevada brothels – not much. Thank God. So we’ll just keep authorizing what we’ve spent (because we really – had to – spend it). The productive economy is still lagging if not declining (see Mankiw). Finance looks really good (hooked on debt as we are). And lets run bank credits into securities! Yeah! Hmmmm ... something about the Great Depression? If Gandhi comes along and teaches us how to sit down ... well, even if he does not, we’re going to sit. Or fall.
Dig this. I’m supposed to be happy about Obamacare. Because of all my indigent poor clients.
Well, I’m no Donald Trump follower. By a loooong shot. But the Don got one thing right. In perspective –
“Let me get this straight . . .We're going to be ‘gifted’ with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! What the hell could possibly go wrong?”
Trump sees it. Despite hyperbole.
My clients are going to feel it. And never know what hit them.
This Debt Ceiling law is insane. Basically it requires a vote to spend the money that was approved in the budget process. The big difference, is that HUGE changes will be pushed through with ALMOST NO DEBATE.
Saying to just give in on a few trillion dollars of cuts in the budget wold be an abdication of the Congress' responsibility to actually legislate.
If Tea Baggers want to strip the NEXT budget, then bring on. We'll hammer it out. But don't demand that we cut well-established programs without so much as a chance for the CBO to weigh in.
Scott F – “There is not enough cognitive energy in us to doubt everything” (from your blog).
Haha! Way too cool.
Gigerenzer says our environment presents food to us (gatherers/foragers) statistically. So we’re hard wired for it!
Politicians seem to know this. Doubt everything? Sometimes we just have to “eat” the c!@p that’s sitting right in front of us! Which is now a political debt ceiling – tactic!
But you know what they say about GIGO.
Way too funny. Thanks for the laugh.
