Some of the special features of this section:
- Luke isn't as negative toward the Pharisees as Matthew. In fact, some Pharisees come to Jesus to warn him that Herod Antipas is trying to kill him.
- Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15
- Parable of the Shrewd Manager is very bizarre in Luke 16, but it fits with the fact that Luke is very hard on the wealthy.
- The new NIV2011 has a better translation of Luke 17:21. The idea is not that the kingdom of God is inside you as an individual but that it is among us as a community of faith.
- The story of Zacchaeus is unique to Luke.
My biggest reminder:
- Don't assume you belong in the seat of honor. Take a lower seat and let the host call you to come up higher.

I should say that the Holy Spirit is inside us all individually too. It's just that our individualistic culture tends to focus too much on the individual angle.
Ken, collective thinking CAN lead to dangerous realities, for individuals if those realities are not proven through scientific experimentation and history. And if scientific experimentation is accepted, one can only be agnostic concerning the transcendent.
If history is also accepted, then, we cannot help but promote individual liberty, an American and Protestant value, because ideology should not rule in the realm of Government. And the individual should be allowed to determine "his own destiny". It is the morality of choice versus coercion, diversity versus uniformity, free thinking versus "political correct" thinking...etc.
The Bill of Rights grants liberties and protection to every American Citizen from Government coercive power. Lately, some have tried to undermine our Bill of Rights. I read yesterday on Forbes that the President said that Americans didn't deserve to be free!(?) What does that mean?
Progressives love change for the sake of change, not affirming historical realism. These would subvert our country and culture for some ideological "utopia" of their own making. The "higher law" subverts America's Constitutional limits for a "global" purpose and outcome. That means anything is up for grabs to change, American borders, healthcare, history, government,as well, as individual liberties! The "collective" is the name of Progressive views on justice, which undermines justice for individual for the sake of the "whole"! (Obamacare has been a good experiment of unintended consequences, but maybe the consequnces were not all that unintended. We might never know, when those in government are finally allowed to censor what we are allowed to know...http://protectc4freespeech.com/
